INTRODUCTION
This program has as main object to join two National Parks, the Torres del Paine National Park and the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park,by means of a safety sailing through the quiet and abundant waters of the Río Serrano (Serrano River), on board of a motor boat, the capacity of which is 22 passengers, equipped with two up-to-date engines (four-stroke engine) of 70Hp each one.
Our program is divided into two sailing trips:
RIO
SERRANO (SERRANO RIVER): Upstream and Downstream sailing along 40
Kms of incomparable beauty, enjoying the overabundant vegetation, the
virgin landscapes, rough cliffs close to the river, mountains and glaciers
(Tyndall, Geyke, Balmaceda and Serrano, which are part of the Campos
de Hielo Patagónico Sur (Sothern Ice Field)), apart from that, you will
have the possibility of sharing with a typical character of the Chilean
Patagonia "El Baqueano", during the lunch time.
FIORDO
ULTIMA ESPERANZA (ULTIMA ESPERANZA FJORD:This fjord consists of
about 65Kms de virgin landscapes. It owes its name to a sailor called
Juan Ladrilleros, who considered this place to be his last hope to find
the Strait of Magellan. During the sailing you will see a number of
marine fauna like swans, cormorants, wild ducks, condors, sea lions,
etc.
ALTERNATIVE PROGRAMS:
1.1 ONAS DOWNRIVER
- 08:00 hrs: Transfer from the CONAF Administrative Center on a small
bus to the Serrano Camping Site.
- 09:00 hrs: Sailing from the Serrano Camping Site, Torres del Paine
National Park on board of motor boats.
- 11:45 hrs: Arrival to the Glacier Serrano. Trekking to the base
of the Glacier and lagoon of the same name.
- 13:45 hrs: Transfer to a bigger boat, sailing through the Fiordo
Ultima Esperanza (Ultima Esperanza Fjord), visiting the sea lions
colony.
- 16:30 hrs: Arrival to Puerto Natales.
1.2 ONAS UPRIVER
- 08:00 hrs: Sailing from Puerto Natales on boardof a boat. Sailing
through the Fiordo Ultima Esperanza (Ultima Esperanza Fjord).
- 11:45 hrs: Arrival to the Glacier. Trekking to the base of the Glacier
Serrano.
- 13:45 hrs: Sailing on board of motor boats,upstream sailing.
- 16:30 hrs: Arrival to the Torres del Paine National Park. Transfer
on a small bus to the CONAF Administrative Center.
1.3 ROUND TRIP
- Transfer from the CONAF Administrative Centeron a small bus, to
the Serrano Camping Site.
- Sailing from the Serrano Camping Site.
- 11:00 hrs: Arrival to the Glacier Serrano. Trekking to the base
of the Glacier and the Lagoon of the same name.
- 13:45 hrs: Sailing on board of a motor boat, visiting the Glacier
Balmaceda and the Sea Lion Colonies. Back to the National Park, upstream
sailing.
- 16:30 hrs: Arrival to the National Park. Transfer to the CONAF Administrative
Center.
OUR SERVICES INCLUDE:
- Transfer on a small bus from and to the CONAF Administrative Center.
- Full Personal Equipment for the sailing.
- Safe adventure tour.
- Lunch (We will take a break on the way to Rio Serrano, and share
lunch time with the Baqueano, a typical character of the Chilean Patagonia.)
- The motor boat drivers are professionals with years of experience
in sailing in the zone.
